The "Pec Thing" in Winnebago County, Illinois is my Love It for the week. I have been attending this giant Antiques & Collectables show for as long as I can remember...mostly because I was forced for the first half of my life...but, now because I have grown to love & appreciate these vintage treasures.
My Dad & Grandma have been Antiques dealers for my entire life, and I had a love-hate relationship with that business!! It wasn't cool when I was 15, but I did have the best Vintage Handbag collection of anyone I knew. I decorated my college dorm room & our first home in traditional decor, but didn't want anything old. I tried to get away from it, but eventually my style evolved & I am proud to say that I think my Dad's business is great! I just wished that I would have learned a bit more about refinising pieces while my Grandma was still alive.
My home is a work in progress at the moment. In time I plan to have a comfy, farmhouse style feel. A perfect mix of old & new.
I HIGHLY recommend visting The Pec Thing in Pecatonica, IL this weekend (May 19-20) if you are in the area. It's just about 90 minutes west of Chicago. There is a small $3 fee for adults to get in, but kids under 12 & parking are free. Thousands of treasures await!!
